World Programme for Human Rights Education: First Phase (2005-2007)

As a follow-up to the Decade for Human Rights Education, the United Nations have initiate a World Programme for Human Rights Education, which was launched at the United Nations General Assembly on 10th December 2004. During the period 2005-2007 the focus will be on human rights education in primary and secondary education. The Office of theUN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is coordinating activities within the framework of the World Programme.

OHCHR has developed a Plan of action for the first phase of the world programme for human rights education in consultation with governments, educational agencies, NGOs and other civil society actors. HREA organised a Global Consultation on this Plan of Action.
