Upgrading NGO Training Curricula: Integrating the Human Rights-Based Approach

HREA, in collaboration with INTRAC and the Jordan Civil Society Program, will be conducting a boot camp and on-the-job training and coaching for human rights trainers in Jordan. The “Upgrading NGO Training Curricula: Integrating the Human Rights-Based Approach Program” is aimed at strengthening the ability of Jordanian civil society organizations (CSOs) to integrate the human rights-based approach into their training programs by applying innovative approaches to human rights training, coupled with international best practices and Jordanian case studies.

The program will take place between January-May 2013 and includes a 5-day Training of Trainers Bootcamp led by HREA and INTRAC for up to twenty NGOs followed by a sub-award competition for ten NGOs to cover the costs of the trainer’s time to develop the new/upgrade curriculum and pilot the course during on-the-job training with the NGOs’ specific target audience. The program targets NGOs working on human rights and development issues to engage their trainers (in-house or freelancers) in upgrading existing curricula or create new curricula on rights). NGO trainers must have a minimum of 3-5 years training experience in delivering workshops and awareness sessions on human rights and/or development topics that integrate the rights-based approach. Trainers can be (a) in-house trainers working full-time within a Jordanian non-governmental organization or (b) freelance trainers who partner with an NGO to deliver the pilot course to their constituency base as part of this program.

The deadline for application was 25 November 2012.
