Registration opens for workshop on monitoring children’s rights in Brussels, 13-15 October

HREA will be organising a workshop in monitoring children’s in Brussels (Belgium) from 13-15 October 2014. The workshop is part of a blended training program intended for child rights practitioners, children’s advocates and child-related professionals seeking to gain a practical understanding of the concept and practice of monitoring children’s rights as a means of strengthening programming and furthering advocacy activities that aim to promote and protect children’s rights.

Participants will learn about methodologies for carrying out monitoring (respecting child participation), the basics of choosing or constructing a children’s rights indicator, and the application of results for improving the promotion and protection of the rights of the child. The training will include a blend of theoretical materials and case studies that draw from a range of issues including child survival and health, education and development, child contact with the law, and child abuse and situations of exploitation.

Learning format

This course uses a blended learning methodology and consists of several learning phases:
1. Self-directed e-course on the children’s rights framework, September 2014 (to be completed prior to the workshop).
2. Intensive three-day workshop in Brussels, 13-15 October 2014.
3. Follow up and support through HREA’s Community of Practice for child rights practitioners.

Costs

The course tuition fee is € 545, this includes registration fee, tuition for the e-learning course and workshop, coffee/tea breaks, lunches. The fee does not include accommodation or travel, which will have to be arranged by participants themselves. An early bird registration fee of € 495 is available until 1 September 2014.
