Issues of identity and the role of culture and community in one's sense of
identity have been the focus of considerable recent reflections. These
topics have posed a host of philosophical, theological, social, political
and jurisprudential questions about the relation between identity and human
rights. On the other hand, identity, individual differences, cultural
diversity and their interactions and tensions with human rights have raised
a wide range of questions, such as:

What sort of individual and cultural differences are to be protected by
human rights? How can the apparent conflict between respect for cultural
and individual diversity and the universality of human rights be solved?
And other questions which may be derived from the topics listed below.

Following the Second International Conference on Theoretical Foundations of
Human Rights, held in May 2003, Mofid University's Center for Human Rights
Studies intends to hold its Third Biennial International Conference on
Human Rights under the title of "Identity, Difference and Human Rights".

They must also contain the schematic proposal of the final papers together
with the main assumptions and conclusions.
