Certainly it exists, in Italy. Its name is "Psicologi per i Popoli"
(Psychologists for the people), a volunteer organisation of psychologists
active nationally and internationally, in civil protection and in
international projects.

Psicologi per i Popoli (Psychologists for the People) is a volunteer
professional organisation founded in 1999 in Bolzano, Italy, by a group of
psychpologists sharing a direct experience in the support of populations
envolved in former Yugoslavia and Rwanda conflicts and genocides.
Psicologi per i Popoli interventions includes  individuals and groups
emotional support; helpers support, training and empowering; disseminating
community empowering strategies. Our adopted pshilosophy  is holistic,
directed to favour integrated efforts among the helpers.

Psicologi per i Popoli is a recognized partner in the Civil Protection
Organisations at provincial and regionale level, partecipating in small and
large scale rescue and support actions . We collaborated with several ONGs
like Caritas italiana and CUAM.
More recently, we have been envolved in givig psychosocial support to
poluations envolevd in Northern Italy floods and in Molise earthquake, and
we are envolved on a regular basis in local and daily emergencies as well as
in prevention programs.

Our organisation is a recognized consultant in education and training
projets run by Psychology Faculties in Italy (Padova and Torino)

Our committment envolves three areas:

-national emergencies area. We work at helping victims and rescue workers,
at training helpers to meet emotional needs (their own and of others)
-international emergencies area
-human rights initiatives

We are a federal organisation, active in many italian regions (Piedmont;
Lombardia; Valle DčAosta;Veneto, Friuli; Trentino; Emilia Romagna; Toscana;
Lazio)

Our national President is Luigi Ranzato (luigi.ranzato@cr-surfing.net). Our
Vice-President is Maria Teresa Fenoglio (mariateresa.fenoglio@libero.it)
