1. What to Attend: 2004 Morgenthau Lecture with Bernard Kouchner
==================================

On March 2, the Carnegie Council on Ethics and International Affairs in
New York City will host its twenty-third Annual Morgenthau Memorial
Lecture with an address by Bernard Kouchner on "The Future of
Humanitarianism."

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to hear from the co-founder of
the Nobel prize-winning Médicins Sans Frontières [Doctors Without
Borders] and former UN adminstrator in Kosovo. One of the most popular
figures on the French left, Kouchner will explain why he was so
concerned when his government opened up a chasm with the United States
over the war on Iraq. In his view, the international community was 25
years too late in acting against Saddam Hussein.

Kouchner will speak at 5:30 on Tuesday March 2 at the Harmonie Club, 4
East 60th Street. Following the presentation, the Carnegie Council will
host a $350-a-plate dinner for Dr. Kouchner, providing an informal venue
for continuing the conversation.
