Rumana, WOMEN'S STUDIES INTERNATIONAL FORUM, vol 14, nos 1/2, pp. 37-47, 1991 has an article that I co-authored, "The Gender-Specific Terror of El Salvador and Guatemala." Both the article and its bibliography should be helpful to your purpose. I think if you confine your topic to SYSTEMATIZED or STATE-SPONSORED abuse, you will find it more manageable. You might want to look at the Introduction and the first few chapters of WRITINGS FOR A LIBERATION PSYCHOLOGY, by Ignacio Martin-Baro (Harvard, 1994). In NYC you might want to track down Henrietta Shannon, also a graduate student, with interests close to yours. (henriettas@yahoo.com) Tell her I sent you. Best of luck in your endeavors.
