Call for Nominations: Psychologists for Social Responsibility Cultures of Peace Award Deadline: July 15, 2002 On an annual basis, Psychologists for Social Responsibility (PsySR) recognizes organizations that promote cultures of peace with an award. We honor groups that promote peace through programs that prevent or ameliorate direct or structural violence. These actions may be observable through such processes as nonviolent conflict resolution, peace education, trauma reduction, reconciliation, equitable development, ecological sustainability, and human rights. PsySR particularly appreciates organizations that work holistically (at both individual and collective levels), using inclusive, participatory, and empowering processes that are culturally grounded. We present our Cultures of Peace Award at the Annual American Psychological Association Convention each August, hopefully to a representative of the honored group. We also describe the group's work and the basis of our award, in our newsletter and annual Business meeting. If you would like to nominate a group for the PsySR Cultures of Peace Award, please contact Deborah Winter (winterd@whitman.edu) before July 15, and include a description of the group's work along the dimensions described above. ========== Psychology and Human Rights listserv ========== Send mail intended for the list to <psychology-humanrights-l@hrea.org>.
