WOMEN & WAR
Produced by Teaching Screens in consultation with the Centre for the Study
of Violence and Reconciliation
Women & War is a documentary looking at issues affecting women during and
after war. The film highlights the gendered experiences of war and how
women have survived.
Women & War focuses on different experiences of war. The film was shot in
countries on a rough meridian across Africa, through the Middle East and
into the Balkans, in countries that are currently in or that have known
conflict in recent years - South Africa, Northern Uganda, Israel & Palestine
and Bosnia.
Women & War also specifically looks at the South African Truth and
Reconciliation Commission as a potential model for conflict resolution and
healing around the world. The story of the successes and failures of the TRC
links many of the sequences through the film.
