People's Watch - Tamilnadu, a human rights organisation primarily working
in the field of human rights monitoring, intervention, rehabilitation,
documentation, publication etc has also initiated a program of human
rights education in schools and colleges in Tamilnadu, India.

   Requirements from volunteers :

We are in search of volunteers who can contribute to this large movement
of HRE -- in schools, in colleges and for the other sectors. The tasks
that are expected from the volunteers are mentioned category wise so that
different people could apply to us :

Category No 1 :

- the volunteers would have to assist us with the response that we have
received to the assessment that we conducted for the HRE in schools Phase
II & III and the responses by themselves number more than 1,00,000.

- the skills expected from the volunteers who offer themselves for this
task would be to be able to capture the specialities of this program of
HRE in schools in the form of a special report based on the findings that
are revealed after the data entry is over.

- the period required from the volunteers for this task would be a minimum
period of 6 months to get the entire task completed.

Category No 2 :

- the volunteers are required to assist us in the process of preparing the
resource materials for the participants and this would be changing from
sector to sector since the reading materials would have to necessarily be
sector specific.

- the volunteers should be persons with knowledge of law and willing to
explore existing materials that are available from other institutions of
human rights training.

- the volunteers who take up this challenge would also have to assist in
the process of documenting the entire training experience in the pilot
phase of the program so that later these sector specific programs could
easily be replicated in the other states in the country in the few years
left from the UN Decade for HRE.

- the period that the volunteers would be expected would be for a minimum
period of 6 months but there is enough work for more than one year.

Category No 3:

- the volunteers in this category should be persons with an ability of
documenting the stories of the teachers, students and the Heads of schools
in our experiments of HRE in schools and also with the HRE in colleges. It
is important to catch these stories of the teachers so that they could be
mentioned in the other states within the country and also shared with
other experiences in the world after the introduction of HRE in schools.

- the volunteers would have to spend their time travelling from school to
school in Tamilnadu in all the districts and this would be also for a
minimum period of 6 months.

Details of the place of stay : The volunteers would have to be stationed
for their permanent stay at People's Watch Tamilnadu which is located in
Madurai ( a temple city ) in the state of Tamilnadu ( South India ).
However the entire program is confined to the state of Tamilnadu and
therefore the travel and stay would also be confined to the state of
Tamilnadu.

Thanks, Regards
