Completing the IPEDEHP discussion and moving on

Greetings yet again from your moderator!

Last week I indicated that, before leaving for Guatemala, I would be
summarizing the comments on the IPEDEHP discussion and, based on the summary
possibly raising some new topics for discussion. However, I have as of yet
not received any further comments.

My sense, through side conversations with a number of you is that you are
swamped with a lot of other things on your platters; several have told me
that you have every intention of reviewing the IPEDEHP case and getting back
to me with your comments but, given other commitments, that you want more
time.

Here is my proposal:

1. That we set a target date of June 15 for receiving comments on the
IPEDEHP case; in other words that those who intend to comment on the
IPEDEHP case submit their comments to the list serve address
(psychology-humanrights-l@hrea.org)--you
may also cc. me (mbern362@aol.com)
if you like--by that date.

2. A few days later I, as moderator, will issue an e-mail which summarizes
what has been said thus far: including general comments as well as
questions/issues that have surfaced. I will try, in order to accommodate a
couple of our Spanish speakers, to also produce the summary in Spanish which
I will mail on the side to the Spanish speakers.

3. At that time, based on what comes out of the IPEDEHP discussion and
personal interests of member of the group, we will move on: either entering
into more depth into some of the topics raised through the IPEDEHP discussion
(where we hopefully will draw in your collective rich experiences) or
initiating a discussion on other topic(s) of special interest to group
members. Please feel free to raise any specific topics of interest that you
would like this discussion group to address (within the realm of our
mission); a couple of you already have.

In the meantime, while I am in Guatemala please keep your inputs (comments on
IPEDEHP case, bio data for those who haven't had a chance to do so yet)
coming. Frank Elbers has been kind enough to offer to moderate in my absence:
as appropriate he will relay, through the List-Serve, your inputs into the
discussion to the full group. When necessary, he will contact me in
Guatemala.

By the way, for any side communications directly with me, I can be reached
through my e-mail address (mbern362@aol.com) while
in Guatemala as my e-mail
will be forwarded to me.

I any of you do not have the IPEDEHP case study summary and would like to
have it faxed to you, please contact Anne Anderson <a
href="mailto:(psysrusa@compuserve.com">(psysrusa@compuserve.com)
who has kindly agreed to do this.

Warm regards and abrazos to all,

Marcy
