Social Forum of Information, Documentation and Libraries (Mexico City, 7-8 September 2006)

The Study Circle on Political and Social Library Science (Mexico) [Círculo
de Estudios sobre Bibliotecología Política y Social] and the Social Study
Group on Library Science and Documentation (Argentina) [Grupo de Estudios
Sociales en Bibliotecología y Documentación], in collaboration with
library science and information science professionals, ANNOUNCE the Second
Social Forum of Information, Documentation and Libraries (SFIDL) to those
interested in participating in the virtual and live phases which will be
held in Mexico.

FSIDyB will develop virtually from March to July at:
http://www.inforosocial.org and will finish live in in Mexico City,
September 7 and 8, 2006 at the Anthropology Research Institute's
Auditorium, National Autonomous University of Mexico.

The entire process of producing, organization, preservation, and
socialization of information represents an act of identity and
responsibility of professionals and technicians in our societies.
Nevertheless, the immobility and the exclusion of sociopolitical topics on
the agendas of professional associations and public policies at the local,
regional, and national levels have impeded developing and articulating
solution proposals; as well as introducing social and economic
transformations in our professional work.

The SFIDL is the continuation of the First Social Forum of Information,
Documentation and Libraries (Buenos Aires, Argentina, August 26-28, 2004)
and its purpose is Latin American interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary
integration in order to establish an agenda of professional activities,
offering results from professional and academic experiences and promoting
initiatives as mechanisms of social transformation and improved policies
from information sciences.

Access and participation are free
