[huridocs-tech] International conference on "Gender Issues in e-Society" at Annamalai University (Tamilnadu, India, 19-20 Dec 2005)

Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the WIT 2005 conference on
Gender Issues in E-Society', which will be held at Annamalai University,
Chidambaram (Tamilnadu, India) during December 19-20, 2005. This
conference is being organized in coordination with International
organizations such as the Computing Research Association- Women's Chapter
(CRA-W), USA and the Centre for Computer Science, University of Houstan,
Texas, USA. The central focus of the theme is to develop strategies and to
expand outreach activities to enable women at various strata of the
society to participate in the e-society.

The entire deliberations will be centering around (i) gender issues in
e-society; (ii) gender perspectives in internet governance; (iii) gender
and ICT education; (iv) gender and ICT policy issues; (v) gender equity in
the IT and ITES sector; (vi) gender and e-governance; (vii) role of women
in e-panchyat and ; (viii) empowering women through ICT etc.

This conference is opened to young women students, academics from the
computer science departments, IT experts from various government and
non-government organizations and IT personnel from various industries. We
are anticipating more than 1000 participants representing various IT
related sectors across the globe. The details of the themes and sub-themes

In addition to the regular conference organized during 19 & 20th December
2005, we have also opened an e-discussion forum on the above said themes
from 22nd October 2005 onwards. The procedure for registering to the
e-discussion forum is given at the conference website mentioned above. We
request you to interact with the peer groups in the e-discussion forum and
share your valuable experiences and best practices for empowering women in
the e-society.

The outcome of these discussions will be compiled and presented as a
monograph at the inaugural session of the conference. We cordially invite
you to participate actively and make this forum a grand success.
