As part of the series on Policy Awareness and Training in Information
Technology, the first high-level Seminar of this year on "Policy and
Security Issues in Information Technology" and the Official Launching
Ceremony for the 2004 Series will be held in the Economic and Social
Council Chamber on Friday, 23 April 2004, from 3 to 6 p.m.

This interactive seminar is addressed by recognized experts in the
subjects.  It is primarily aimed at ambassadors and other diplomats.
However, all interested staff members as well as NGO representatives are
welcome and encouraged to attend.

This is the third year of a successful programme, organized by the United
Nations Information and Communication Technologies (UNICT) Task Force and
the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The
programme, supported by Intel Corporation, is presented under the auspices
of the ECOSOC Ad-Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Informatics.

Due to security reasons, NGOs that wish to attend the Seminar are
requested to register by submitting the attached application form by
Monday 19 April. Please note that without advance registration, United
Nations Security will be unable to provide clearance to participants for
access to the Economic and Social Council Chamber.
