Wireless broadband access for low-income areas in US

wireless broadband access in low-income areas. The United Way of 
Southeastern Pennsylvania, for example, is working to build Wi-Fi hotspots

PDAs to be used to deliver healthcare in Indian villages

A novel project in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh will use mobile 
computing devices to help deliver the healthcare needs of rural people. 
Nurses and midwives from primary health centres in remote villages will

Virtual public health campus launched for the Americas

The Pan-American Health Organisation, together with 14 academic 
institutions in the Americas and Spain, has launched a virtual public 
health campus as a tool to provide continuing education to public health

US project using radio programmes, Internet to fight chronic illness

WEKU Radio and the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center are partnering to 
produce audio programmes and online information, with the aim to improve 
the quality of care for the chronically ill in the Appalachian counties of

African radio stations chip in with HIV/AIDS education

India's first computer Braille language lab opens

India's first fully computerised Braille language laboratory was recently 
opened at the Blind
Peoples' Association in Ahmedabad, using a computer with a 'talking
