From: "FEltom" <eltom@international-council.org> The International Council on Human Rights Policy has just released a new report entitled Journalism, Media and the Challenge of Human Rights Reporting. The report is an examination of how journalists conceive of and select human rights news, the impact of recent transformations in the media industry, including new technologies, and the constraints and obstacles to 'good' reporting in the area of human rights. Calling for a fresh debate between journalists and human rights activists, it argues that, as human rights are integrated increasingly in policy frameworks, journalists have a professional duty to report on this subject with accuracy, fairness, consistency and precise knowledge of human rights. This study is the outcome of a two-year research project that involved interviews with over seventy editors, journalists and broadcasters working in major international media centres, and extensive consultation with national and local media professionals in several countries. http://www.ichrp.org/cgi-bin/show?what=project&id=106 ========== HURIDOCS-Tech listserv ========== Send mail intended for the list to <huridocs-tech@hrea.org>.
