Job Opening at WHRnet: Consultant Content Manager

Women's Human Rights Net (WHRnet) is looking for a:

Consultant Content Manager (6 months)

Women's Human Rights Net is seeking a consultant Content Manager to
contribute to and co-ordinate the creation and updating of website content
across a range of sections and topics on the WHRnet site (www.whrnet.org).

WHRnet is an international network of 25 women's human rights
organizations, dedicated to the effective utilization of all information
and communication technologies (ICTs) and strategies, toward the
advancement of women's human rights and the support of women's advocacy
globally.

The Consultant Content Manager will report to the Executive Director of
WHRnet.  The role of the Content Manager is to:

-	Work with the Executive Director to establish, document and keep under
review editorial guidelines and content development criteria
-	Work with the Executive Director to develop and oversee quality-control
mechanisms
-	Write and edit content in English on women's human rights issues and
policy developments globally
-	Liaise with WHRnet partners and associates to source content
-	Establish a panel of "content experts" to provide content on specialized
topics
-	Maintain and regularly update the site's links to relevant online resources
-	Conduct Internet-based research to locate new resources
-	Liaise with the WHRnet web maintenance and translation team to ensure
timely production of the site
-	Monitor the WHRnet site useage patterns and statistics toward developing
strategies to better reach and serve our target audience
-	Participate as part of a wider WHRnet team in shaping the overall
development of the site's sections and features


Requirements for the post:

-	Excellent English writing and editing skills
-	At least two years experience working in specialized content development
(for example, magazine/web writing/editing, journalism, academic/research,
etc.)
-	Experience working in the non-profit, non-governmental (NGO) sector
-	Knowledge of women's movements and feminist analyses and agendas, and a
demonstrable commitment to the promotion of women's human rights
-	Familiarity with human rights issues and institutions, especially the
United Nations and/or regional human rights machineries
-	High degree of proficiency in using a PC, accessing the Internet, and
evaluating web-based resources
-	Demonstrable interest in using ICTs to achieve social justice/advocacy goals
-	Available for occasional travel

Desirable:

-	Proficiency in Spanish, French or another language in addition to English
-	Understanding of web creation and design processes

The position will be offered initially on a 6-month consultancy basis, with
the possibility of a full-time contract thereafter. The Consultant Content
Manager may be appointed on a full or part-time basis but must be available
to work a minimum of 3 days per week.   Location is flexible.  Salary is
negotiable and commensurate with experience.
