(Projet Parente conjointe, ENDA, 31 juillet 2001) ­ Le site web "Parente
conjointe : les moyens d'expression pour la justice de genre" sera inaugure
le 31 juillet 2001, au Cybercafe de la Porte du Millenaire, a Dakar
(Senegal), a l'occasion de la celebration de la Journee de la femme
africaine.

Ce site web est le cœur du projet "Les technologies de l’information et de
la communication a l’appui du programme des femmes pour l’egalite de genre
au Senegal", mis en œuvre au cours de l'annee 2001, par ENDA Tiers-Monde, en
partenariat avec Siggil Jigeen, avec le soutien de l'Initiative Acacia du
Centre de Recherches pour le Developpement International.

L'enjeu du projet est d'amener les organisations de femmes a tirer le
meilleur parti des outils modernes de communication a l'appui des causes
pour lesquelles elles militent, et dans le cadre du Projet Parente
conjointe, de sensibiliser l’opinion publique sur la necessite de remplacer
dans la legislation nationale les  notions de "puissance maritale" et de
"puissance paternelle" par celles de "parente conjointe" et de
"responsabilite conjointe de la famille".
Lance en janvier 2001, le projet est mis en œuvre en etroite concertation
avec les organisations de la societe civile et de promotion des droits de la
personne, les services publics, les parlementaires, les agences de
cooperation et les medias, au Senegal, en Afrique et dans le monde. Les
activites de base du projet sont maintenant accomplies : production de
contenus endogenes de recherches et de documents d'information ecrite et
sonore, en francais et en wolof ; formation des partenaires a la maitrise
des techniques de communication basees sur Internet et l'ordinateur.

Le site web intitule "Parente conjointe, les moyens d'expression pour la
justice de genre" construit en parallele, est un lieu d'acces public a
l'information ecrite et sonore produite par le projet, aux ressources
documentaires et de formation accessibles par Internet, et un espace de
discussion et de plaidoyer pour la sensibilisation. C'est une composante du
portail famafrique, le premier espace virtuel de ressources, d'informations
et d'action sur le developpement durable pour les femmes d'Afrique
francophone, qui fete ainsi ses deux annees d'existence.

31 July 2001 African Women's Day, Launch of the "Joint Parenting" website

(ENDA,Joint Parenting Project, 31 July 2001) - On 31 July, in celebration of
the African Woman's Day, the "Joint Parenting" website will be launched in
Dakar, at the Millenium Cyberspace (Senegal).

The Joint Parenting website is the core of the "Information and
Communication Technologies supporting women gender equality programmes  in
Senegal" project.  This project was initiated in early 2001 by ENDA Third
World, in partnership with Siggil Jigéen, and is supported by the
International Development Research Centre - Acacia Initiative.

The  project aims to get women's organisations use modern communication
tools in support to their agenda and, in the context of the Joint Parenting
project, foster public awareness on the need to remove notions such as
"marital power" and "paternal power" from national family laws, to replace
them with the concepts of "joint parenting" and "joint responsibility for
the family".

Initiated in January 2001, the project has been implemented in close
association with civil society and human rights organisations, as well
public services, parliamentarians, cooperation agencies, and the Senegalese,
African, and international media.  Activities so far completed include
production of endogenous contents, research and information documentation,
both written and audio, in French and in Wolof,  training the partners in
computer and internet use  for communication.

The website, named "Joint Parenting: ICTs for gender justice" is the core
public space of this project, providing access to information, documents,
discussion forums, lobbying activities, and training modules produced by the
project.  The site is a link off the famafrique portal, created two years
ago, the first ever virtual space for resources, data, and activities on
sustainable development for francophone African women.
