huridocs-tech Martin Ennals Award: call for nominations

The Martin Ennals Foundation encourages organisations to publish the call
for nominations for the 2001 Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders
in their printed documents and Web sites. The following text can be used
for such announcements.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2001 THE MARTIN ENNALS AWARD FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
DEFENDERS (MEA)

The Martin Ennals Foundation invites nominations for its 2001 Award. The
deadline is 15 October 2000.

The value of the annual Award is 20'000 Swiss Francs, to be used for
further work in the field of human rights. The 2001 award ceremony -
following last year's success - will be held in the framework of the
North-South Media Festival in Geneva (end of March, at the time of the UN
Commission on Human Rights.).

The following organisations participate in the Board and Jury: Amnesty
International, Article 19, Defence for Children, Human Rights Desk of
Diakonisches Werk, Human Rights Watch, HURIDOCS, International Alert,
International Commission of Jurists, International Federation of Human
Rights, World Organisation Against Torture.
