NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR
(NEW YORK, NY OFFICE)
Since its founding in 1978, Human Rights Watch has become
the largest U.S.-based international human rights monitoring
and advocacy organization, known for its in-depth
investigations, its incisive and timely reporting, its
innovative and high-profile advocacy campaigns, and its
success in changing the human rights-related policies of the
U.S. and other influential governments.
DESCRIPTION: The Network Administrator will report to the
Systems Manager in the NY headquarters of this
globally-linked organization. The Administrator will assist
with support, maintenance and troubleshooting of the
existing network infrastructure as well as help implement
new features to respond to user needs. Responsibilities will
include setting up Windows NT workstations, adding and
deleting users from the network, basic and advanced training
of staff in Microsoft Office and other applications,
handling Help Desk requests, and providing software,
hardware and network support to approximately 100+ staff in
the NY office as well as remotely-linked staff based
overseas.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be experienced with Windows
NT, Netware, and NDS systems administration and have a solid
understanding of a Windows NT operating environment,
especially Version 4.0 and other desktop operating systems
such as Windows 95/98. Applicants should have the the
ability to configure NT domains and Netware NDS in a LAN/WAN
environment and familiarity with fundamental
networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
Applicants must be motivated and self-directed, able to
prioritize with minimal supervision, function well under
pressure, and handle numerous tasks simultaneously. In
order to provide top level help desk support, candidates
must be dedicated to enhancing productivity for end users;
experience with teaching or helping people will be
considered a plus. Other desired skills would include A+
Certification, CNE, CNA, and/or MCSE. One to three years of
highly responsible experience in either an academic or
business environment would be ideal; an interest in
international affairs and human rights would be useful.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary negotiable, depending upon
experience. Human Rights Watch offers an outstanding
