In the Anglican Church of Saint Cristobal, in East Bentleigh, Australia, a numerous group of elderly people are learning about computers and internet, according to SOI (Internet Observation Service). The project is called Newlands and its aim is to help older people and those who have limited computer access to obtain basic computer and internet skills. The process also includes families with limited resources or problems and people who seek to obtain training in order to find a job. The project is based on social justice, as it seeks to train the "info-poor" so that they become active participants in modern electronic society. Moreover, it also believes that the Church will fail to fulfill its community mission if it does not seek to disseminate the computer culture among these sectors. Moreover, the Church also seeks to encourage a critical analysis of the new culture and tries to involve Church leaders in a meaningful dialogue about the changing nature of current society and the transformations that are taking place. The Newlands Center operates in a small house, with second hand communities and a small Server that operates in a new Pentium. They offer 1-hour courses 3 time a week. After seven weeks they have an average 24 participants per hour. The teachers are highly trained volunteers.
