JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
ONLINE PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

The American Civil Liberties Union, a national
not-for-profit public interest organization, invites
applications for the full-time position of Online Programs
Coordinator to work in the Public Education Department in
New York under the supervision of the Director of Public
Education. The Online Programs Coordinator is responsible
for the organization's online programs, including its
award-winning website.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Online Programs Coordinator has overall responsibility
for the ACLU's growing online program, including its Freedom
Network website (aclu.org). Working in close coordination
with the ACLU's legal, lobbying, field and media
departments, the Coordinator's responsibilities include:
Maintaining the ACLU's Freedom Network website; Developing
content for the site; Marketing and promotion of the site;
Providing technical and strategic guidance to national and
affiliate staff; Overseeing the work of the ACLU's web
hosting vendor; and Other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS At least 5 years of relevant experience
including website management or related electronic
publishing experience; familiarity with website marketing
opportunities, including electronic mailing lists, search
engine placement, banner ads and other audience-building
tools. Expertise with HTML and other web programming
languages. Must have excellent writing skills and the
ability to manage multiple projects; work well under
pressure and meet deadlines. College degree required;
Interest in civil liberties helpful. SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with experience, within the parameters
of the ACLU compensation scale. Excellent health and welfare
