On this first day of 1999 I would like to say thanks for 1998. I'd like to thank all of the organizations, activists, and interested individuals who contribute information to HURINet, and my sincere thanks to the folks who use the service every day. I have appreciated all of the supportive comments about the service this past year, and I have appreciated your patience when I have had to travel and be off-line, and gotten behind in processing, and when my old computer died and I had to learn a new one. Thanks for your understanding. I want to say a special thanks to the guys who run my host system, ComLink. They make sure I can get online every day and they help me solve technical and internet-related problems. They are the hardest working bunch of underpaid guys I know anywhere in the world! They set the standards for service providers: unfailingly nice and helpful, bend-over-backwards to solve a problem, and always treat their customers/friends as they are the most important one in the world!! I want to thank a small core of human rights friends who help me to maintain my sense of humor and who are always ready to listen: Lucie L., Lucie B., Alexia, James, Bert, Aida, Judie, Eddie, Svend, Moussa, Hannah, Stephen H., Frank, Annie-Larrie, and Ben. It has been a particularly long and difficult year for me and I have truly appreciate their support and friendship over the rough patches. And lastly, I want to thank my favorite human rights organization in the whole world: HURIDOCS (of Geneva, Switzerland). The International Secretariat and all of the folks who make up the "HURIDOCS family" worldwide nourish and support human rights work every day. I am very proud to be associated with HURIDOCS. Thanks again everyone!
