NEW WEB SITE: Public Interest Law Initiative in Transitional Societies

The Public Interest Law Initiative in Transitional Societies (PILI) is
pleased to announce the opening of its new web site, www.pili.org. This is
a new online resource for public interest law in Central and Eastern Europe,
Russia and Central Asia. While electronic resources represent just one
aspect of PILI's efforts to support ongoing public interest work, we hope
that www.pili.org will be a center for communication and information sharing
among public interest organizations in the region.

Principal features of the site currently include:

1) the full text of PILI's publications;

2) an online version of its mailing lists (including an archive of all
messages);

3) a public interest library containing the full texts of articles and
papers on clinical legal education and access to justice and an annotated
bibliographic database of other publications relating to public interest
law;

4) a database of public interest organizations and resource providers
working in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia;

5) the Interights database of international human rights case summaries;

6) a Russian language version of its main navigational pages.

As with other websites, we expect www.pili.org, to remain a permanent
"work-in-progress." In the near future we expect to add a comprehensive
news and events section that will include a calendar of public interest
meetings, conferences and important deadlines. Moreover, we will endeavor to
identify new features of the site aimed at furthering our goal of building
strong public interest communities in the region, and we request your help
and feedback in our common endeavor. Please visit our site at your earliest
convenience.

If you represent a public interest organization or resource provider, and
you have not already done so, please complete an Organizational
Questionnaire to have your organization added to our online database. An
online version of this form can be found at
http://www.pili.org/resources/submit.html

Also, if you are not yet a member of the Public Interest Law Network mailing
list, visit our page at http://www.pili.org/lists/piln for more information
or to subscribe and become a member.

Thank you. We are excited about the opportunities for increased
communication and collaboration provided by the Internet, and we look
forward to hearing from you.
