Dear Sir/ Madam, Greetings from the SEA Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers (SEACSUCS)! SEACSUCS is a regional network of child-focused and human rights organizations advocating for the ratification of major international human rights instruments preventing the recruitment of child soldiers. We also develop capacities of partner and network NGO’s in the conduct of monitoring the compliance of states and non-state actors to these instruments, e.g. the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict. The Coalition is very interested to develop partnerships with Thai NGO’s and media to support advocacy efforts on this issue. Hence, we are inviting you to participate in an “Advocacy Workshop on the Issue of Children Involved in Armed Conflict.” This workshop shall orient participants from civil society and media on related international human rights standards, as well as on-going initiatives in the region to prevent the recruitment, demobilize, rehabilitate and reintegrate child soldiers. Furthermore, there will be practical sessions aimed to harness the skills of participants in the conduct of advocacy, research and lobby work. The workshop will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 19 to 21, 2005. We will inform you about the specific venue in due time. Should you be interested to participate, please fill-up the attached registration questionnaire and submit it to us before July 29, 2005. We shall be providing accommodation and reimburse land travel only for participants coming from outside Bangkok.
