Youth Workshop on Child Rights and Peace (Bangkok, August 12-14, 2005)

Dear Friends,

Greetings of peace!

Our organization wishes to invite you to participate in a learning session
entitled, “Youth Workshop on Child Rights and Peace”. The objective of the
activity is to help you understand children’s rights concepts, the U.N.
Convention on the Rights of the Child and current issues facing children
and young people in Thailand, and learn skills on advocacy and campaign. We
hope young people could be active in promoting and protecting the rights of
children and youth in their respective schools or communities.

Our workshop shall be held on a weekend, that is on August 12 to 14, 2005.
The proposed program will be as follows:

August 12 (Friday)
12:00 noon ­ Arrival and check-in of participants
3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ­ Orientation and teambuilding exercises
Evening ­ Solidarity/ Talent night

August 13 (Saturday)
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ­ Discussion on the U.N. Convention on the Rights
of the Child / Video-film showing  / Group exercises
12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. ­ Lunch
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ­ Skills development exercises on advocacy, campaign
and education
Evening ­ Solidarity / Talent night

August 14 (Sunday)
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ­ Group exercises on planning / Exercises on youth
leadership and organizing
Afternoon ­ Check-out and Departures

The venue of our workshop is The Students Christian Center, Phaya Thai
Road, Patumwan District, Bangkok. We could provide accommodation and land
travel reimbursements for participants coming from outside Bangkok. We will
make sure that your participation in the workshop is enjoyable and fun. The
organizers will make sure that you will be safe and secured in the venue
and all activities that will be conducted.
