Residential Training Workshop on Migration, Globalisation, Security and
Development Rajendrapur, Bangladesh
19-28 November 2005

The South Asia Migration Resource Network (SAMReN) is organising a ten-day
residential course on Migration, Globalisation, Security and
Development from 19-28 November 2005. The course will be held at the BRAC
Centre for Development Management (BCDM), Rajendrapur, Bangladesh.

This workshop is designed to enhance understanding of migration processes
in South Asian and international frameworks; and to equip
young academics and professionals in migration research and management. It
will examine migration dynamics in the context of globalisation,
security and development. Furthermore, it will highlight recent issues
facing the international migration regime, impact of globalisation on
migration, and migration challenges faced by South Asian countries. Key
themes will include conceptualisation of migration, the South Asian
experience, governance, security and new challenges in migration discourse.

Applications are invited from those working on migration
research,management and governance at national, regional and global
levels. This may include development practitioners, young academics and
professionals, government functionaries, and practitioners from labour and
human rights organisations. Applications will also be considered from
those working in other sectors whose work may relate to migration policy.

Applications may be lodged by post, fax or e-mail. The application form can
be downloaded from SAMReN website. This should be completed and sent
along with a current CV to the address below. The closing date for
