Human rights Education and AwaReness Tour PROJECT HEART: 12 - 13 March 2005 THINK CENTRE as part of its effort to promote human rights education in Singapore, is conducting seminars, training programmes and workshops on human rights themes. Project HEART, the Human rights Education and AwaReness Tour, is a new initiative. Human rights Education and AwaReness Tour PROJECT HEART: 12 - 13 March 2005 OBJECTIVES HEART provides a platform for the creation of "heart-ware" for human rights promotion: - Training on respecting human dignity and rights - Awareness on current human rights issues - Working groups on key issues Participants of HEART will go through 1 ½ days of introductory course on Human dignity and Rights. This will be followed by a Human rights tour to organizations which are involved in improving the social, economic, cultural and political rights of peoples. At the organizations participants will be exposed to current human rights issues. Finally, the participants will be involved in Working Groups to create public awareness of the key issues. Participants who have completed the course satisfactory will receive a Certificate of achievement by THINK CENTRE. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE - The study session is open to candidates from Singapore - The program strives to achieve gender balance in the selection of the participants. - A proficiency in English language is essential for participation in the training and tour HOW TO APPLY Each applicant should send the following particulars: Title: Project HEART 1. COURSE VENUE: The course venue will be informed to successful applicants by 3rd March 2005. COST OF THE STUDY SESSION Total cost of the study session S$30. This amount covers course materials, field study but excludes travel expense. COURSE CONTENT: INTRODUCTION to Human Dignity and Rights We hope the knowledge of human dignity and human values will always be remembered and guide your spirit. First, learn to respect oneself to live with dignity. It's about being a person who can respect the other. Learn about inherent human dignity and equal rights of all human beings [regardless of race, colour, sex, langauge, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status] which is the foundation for freedom, justice and peace in the world. The training will path the way for an understanding on the value and meaning of being human and what is the meaning of dignified human life. Goals to achieve: 1. To bring you to an understanding of human dignity and human rights. 2. To empower you to handle human relationships with due respect to the persons dignity and rights 3.
