Dear Colleagues, IYP2004 will assemble 250 young activists, between the ages of 18 to 25, from around the world, to work together to effect positive social change. IYP is a dynamic youth initiative of Oxfam International, managed by Oxfam CAA. IYP is a diverse, global network of young social change activists, who work within their communities to build a more peaceful, sustainable and equitable world. IYP2004 is more than just an event, it is part of an ongoing process where delegates and their organizations contribute to and benefit from IYP's program areas which include: Skills development; global youth-networking and information exchange; research, policy development and advocacy; and financial and strategic support for youth-led projects. For more on the benefits of applying go to: http://www.iyp.oxfam.org/ At IYP2004, participants will take part in skills workshops, agenda specific discussions and will develop their action plans for social change. After IYP2004, these new "Action Partners" will return to their communities to implement their action plans, with support of IYP. The agenda for IYP2004 is based around the themes: Equity, Diversity, Governance and Basic Social Services. 12 action areas then focus in on: Education; HIV/AIDS; Labor and employment; Indigenous rights; Migration, trafficking and displacement; Agriculture and sustainability; Peace-building; Human rights; Health and clean water; Youth culture; Technology; and Global trading systems.
