CENTRAL AND EAST EUROPEAN LAW INITIATIVE (CEELI), a public service project of the American Bar Association, is currently seeking attorney's with a minimum of 5 years U.S. legal experience, demonstrating expertise in women's legal issues, J.D or LLM from an American law school, U.S. bar membership, high level of energy and initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and prefer foreign language proficiency and international experience or knowledge of the region. Those with CEDAW Index experience are encouraged to apply. GENDER ISSUES LEGAL SPECIALISTS Location: Georgia (May 2002) 3 months Serbia (June 2002) 1 year Kazakhstan (July 2002) 1 year Russia (September 2002) 6 months to 1 year Uzbekistan (April 2002) 1 year Duties: * Conduct training workshops on domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking for the purpose of prostitution. * Develop training programs on gender related employment issues, including sexual harassment and discrimination. * Assist non-governmental and government organizations in legal literacy initiatives relating to women's legal rights. * Help to develop legal clinics to assist the victims of domestic violence and gender discrimination. * Provide guidance in the development and strengthening of women's bar associations. All participants receive a generous support package that covers travel, housing, general living, and business expenses.
