The program was developed by internationally renowned expert Professor
Michael L. Perlin, a foremost authority in the field, and is based on his
extensive research, teaching, and advocacy in the area of mental
disability law. A Professor of Law at New York Law School, Professor
Perlin directs the Online Mental Disability Law Program and the
International Mental Disability Law Reform Project at the School's Justice
Action Center. Previously, he served as Director of the Division of Mental
Health Advocacy in the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate, and
the Deputy Public Defender in charge of the Mercer County New Jersey
Office of the Public Defender. He is the author of multiple award-winning
publications, including his multi-volume treatise, Mental Disability Law:
Civil and Criminal, and his books The Hidden Prejudice: Mental Disability
on Trial and The Jurisprudence of the Insanity Defense. With Professor
Perlin's extensive experience and his direct involvement in every course,
you will receive the highest level of information applicable to your work
situation.

Designed to provide a convenient, flexible, and supportive learning
environment, the mental disability law program is delivered in a distinct,
user-friendly distance learning format that allows you to meet your needs
as a busy working professional. The majority of course content is
completed online, where you have access to a virtual community of
learners. Taught by experienced, distinguished scholars and practitioners,
each 14-week course includes:

- weekly lectures available on DVD, presented by leading experts
