1. SEEKING FUNDING FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS PUBLICATION (AZERBAIJAN)

Dear Global HRE list subscribers,

I have been dealing with human rights education, and within the frames of
my activities one of my key goals was to distribute information materials
on human rights, especially child rights among the people, especially the
ones working with the children in my country. Now I have come across a
great book on child rights which is entitled "Nine small projects for
exploring child rights" and have already received the author's permission
for its translation. But I am looking for funding opportunities for it.

Can you please respond to this e-mail asap if you have heard of any
funding sources that could support this initiative?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Behije Aliyeva

2. SEEKING FUNDING FOR PH.D IN PEACE AND CONFLICT STUDIES

Hello Colleagues,

I am a Malawian national who is a postgraduate student in Peace and
Conflict Studies at the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, the
University of Sydney, Australia, working towards my PhD in the same field
to begin in March, 2008. My research interests are varied and include,
Genocide, Human Rights Education, Peacebuilding, Peacemaking, Peace with
Justice, Peace through Tourism, Women and Gender.

I am therefore looking for sources of funding for my 3-year PhD study in
Peace and Conflicts Studies beginning March 2008. I would be thankful and
grateful for any ideas for funding, or for any sponsors.

Sincerely,

Bonaventure Mkandawire

3. LOOKING FOR HOST ORGANISATION DURING SABBATICAL

Dear Members of the HRE List Serve:

This Fall Semester beginning September 1 to the end of the year I am on
sabbatical. As part of my sabbatical, I am looking for possible
sponsorship by an organization that has consultative status with the UN in
order to participate as observer, or whatever capacity that might be
helpful, to assist in promoting the goals of the U.N., particularly as
they relate to human rights and the creation of a human rights culture. My
interests are very varied, but most recently have become more involved
pertaining to issues on the eradication of extreme poverty as nearly one
billion people worldwide go to sleep hungry each night and the right to
self-determination, particularly as pertaining to Indigenous Peoples and
an indigenous notion that this right means a "living nicely together."
More specifically, I am interested in attending the Human Rights Council
meeting in Geneva where a working group on extreme poverty plans to meet.

In terms of qualifications, I have been teaching human rights and social
policy courses in the School of Social Work at Springfield College for
roughly fourteen years and am Principal Investigator of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights Project at Brandeis University's Heller School
for Social Policy, originating in the Center for Social Change. I have
written somewhat extensively on the topic and as another part of my
sabbatical I am also working on a book "Human rights and social justice:
Action and service for the helping and health professions" scheduled for
December 10, 2007 (if you are interested if I may at:
http://www.sagepub.com/booksProdDesc.nav?prodId=Book229258gepub.com ).

Such a sponsorship should not cost the organization anything. I would also
be more than happy to give a presentation, seminar or workshop gratis if
you feel my background and qualifications might be useful.

Thank you for attention to this letter.

In solidarity as they say in the human rights field,

Joseph Wronka
