[hr-education] HRE consultancy in Mauritius

Dear HRE Colleagues,

The Mauritian Ministry of Education is currently working on a Plan of
Action to promote Human Rights Education in primary/secondary schools and
include Human Rights in its national curriculum.

The Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Mauritius, OHCHR Southern
Africa (SARO), and UNESCO Tanzania will be supporting this initiative,
starting with a consultancy which will (1) assess current educational
policies/classroom practices and teachers’ pre-service/in-service
training programmes, (2) assist the Ministry of Education and the
Mauritian Institute of Education in a review/revision of the curriculum,
and (3) identify additional strategies to further promote / raise
awareness of Human / Children’s Rights among the youth (creation of
Human Rights Clubs, specific advocacy campaigns).

We would be very much interested in receiving examples of Terms of
Reference used for similar exercises in other countries, and would also
welcome recommendations of eligible experts for this type of consultancy
-- either from within the UN System or external candidates, preferably
with combined Human Rights -- Education/curriculum development experience,
and a strong familiarity with HRE international provisions (UN Decade,
World Programme) / OHCHR-UNESCO publications ("ABC: Teaching Human Rights
-- Practical activities for primary and secondary schools", "All human
beings… Manual for Human Rights Education", etc.).
