Re: Experience in research of HRE

Dear Anatoly and colleagues,

Thankfully, increasing numbers of evaluations and research studies are
taking place in the field of human rights education. HREA has posted those
studies that have become available to us in the "research and evaluation"
section of our on-line HRE Library. You will find dozens of sources at
http://www.hrea.org/erc/Library/list.php?category_id=4&category_type=3

I hope that you will find some of these to be useful.

Recently Dr. Karl-Peter Fritzsche and I co-edited a special issue of the
Journal of Social Science Education called "International Perspectives on
Human Rights Education." This issue includes several studies, including
ones in Northern Ireland and South Africa, that may be of interest to you.
You may find this issue online at http://www.jsse.org/2006-1/index.html

In 2005, I edited a special issue of Intercultural Education called "Human
Rights Education and Transformative Learning" included a number of
articles by NGOs as well as academics that evaluated the impact of human
rights education programming. This journal is not available on-line but
can be ordered at
http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a723982186~db=all .

My introductory article overviewing the studies is available at
http://www.hrea.org/tibbitts0605.html

Later this spring, HREA will be launching its new "Research in Human
Rights Education Papers Series", which is designed to help disseminate
research in the field. I encourage practitioners, academics and graduate
students to use this medium to share their studies with the larger
community of human rights educators so that we can benefit from each
other's experiences.

I will certainly stay in touch with our human rights education community
as additional research become available.

Wishing you success in your research efforts, Anatoly.

All the best,
Felisa
