Information and application form are available on: http://www.itpcm.sssup.it The overall objective of the Summer School the Civilian Personnel of Peacekeeping and Peace-Building Operations is to train a limited number of participants for tasks, usually assigned to the civilian component of the peacekeeping operations and peace-building missions focusing specifically on human rights and electoral assistance and observation. Duration: 2 weeks Start date: 2 July 2007 End date: 14 July 2007 Application deadline: 7 May 2007 Number of participants: 30 Fee: 1 000 Euro (one thousand) ECTS Credits: 5 The Summer School is divided into the following 4 modules: I. Context Lectures on: International Human Rights Law; International Humanitarian Law; legal framework of peace support operations; complex emergency operations; regional peacekeeping operations; mission life-cycle; command and control of peacekeeping operations; civilian and military partnership in PKOs. II. Activities Seminars and role-playing sessions on: education, promotion and observation of human rights; election assistance and observation. III. Personal Profile Seminars and role-playing sessions on: code of conduct; medical issues: pre-mission concerns; conflict resolution; facilitation/mediation/negotiation skills; stress management; personal security; mine awareness. IV. Career Coaching & Interviews Workshops on: Career planning, CV drafting, networking, interview skills, career development. At the end of the Course, representatives of the Human Resources Offices of UNDPKO and UNV will interview prospective applicants with regards to future recruitment. Prospective applicants must have at least a Bachelor degree and a good working knowledge of English. Participants will be selected on the basis of the information provided in their curriculum vitae and in the application form.
