I agree with Abraham and Pablo. In Australia two jurisdictions have recently introduced human rights charters. Those jurisdictions provide extremely fertile ground for introducing human rights into schools. Our federal government honours human rights more in the breach than the observance. I am happy to assist the UNESCO Chair for the region which includes Australia. On a micro level, in Australia at any rate, each school is largely free to structure their yearly material on topics of their choice. Is there any chance of the World Plan on Human Rights Education developing material target at schools themselves? All educational institutions conduct conferences etc at the commencement of each school year. If the World Plan on Human Rights Education can get into these and provide material, then teachers are likely to include it in their teaching. I think this is where academics and human rights advocates can get involved practically by speaking at conferences to promote the use of World Plan on Human Rights Education materials.
