Faculty of Law, K.U.Leuven, Leuven, Belgium

August 14 - 19, 2006

All information on: http://www.globus-socialjustice.org

/Summer Course/: This one-week intensive summer course in the field of
social justice and human rights is the continuing effort of a
Europe-Canada project for the exchange of students and staff. The 2006
summer course is the first of its kind, and will be hosted by the Law and
Society Institute of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium.

/Globus Project: /The GLOBUS project ran between 2002 and 2006, with
support from the European Commission and the Human Resources Department
Canada, and was composed of a consortium of 12 universities in the
European Union and Canada. The project provided an exchange of European
and Canadian students in the disciplines of human rights, social justice,
law, criminology and social sciences. The main objectives of the project
were to advance the knowledge base concerning problems of social justice
and the violation of human rights manifested in processes of social
exclusion, segregation, and discrimination. These issues were evaluated in
five European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and the United
Kingdom) and in Canada. With the formal end of the exchange project, the
2006 summer course is intended to keep the project alive and to offer
individual student and staff exchanges in the future between the various
partner countries.

/Registration:/ Registration for this summer course is available to every
student who is interested in the fields of social justice and human
rights, and has completed at least two years of university education. The
course fee of 250 Euros includes a course reader and the costs to
participate in the social programme of the course, i.a. a trip to the
Flanders battle fields of World War I. The deadline for applications is 5
August 2006.
