Dear colleagues,

UNDP Moldova Project “Support to the Implementation of the National Human
Rights Action Plan in the Republic of Moldova” is implemented in
partnership with the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Moldova
and aims at supporting the Government of Moldova in the implementation of
NHRAP under the global HURIST programme in order to contribute to the
introduction of a consistent and transparent system of implementation of
human rights and monitoring of human rights situation in Moldova. The main
objective of the project is building national capacity of state
authorities and civil society organisations for a better observance,
promotion and fulfilment of human rights in Moldova. The project has an
awareness raising component which involves NGOs and the media in various
human rights promotion activities.

In this context, within the project we are planning to conduct a three day
training on human rights promotion for journalists in the end of August or
beginning of September 2006 period. Through this activity, we wont to
allow journalists to acquire knowledge and abilities necessary for
identifying the human rights issues, accurately reflect the subjects
through the angle of human values that are the foundation of the human
rights - liberty, equality and human dignity, knowledge of the efficient
methods in promoting human rights through mass-media channels. The
objective of the training is to contribute at the solidarization of the
mass-media and at the promotion in the society of the human rights
behaviour.
