CROSS-BORDER HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION CONFERENCE 20th October 2006 Belfast, Northern Ireland This conference is hosted by The Lift Off Initiative together with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Irish Human Rights Commission. The conference will provide an opportunity to examine the progress and potential for implementing the United Nations World Programme of Action for Human Rights Education through showcasing the work of various initiatives within the primary sector both locally and internationally. Through workshops and discussions delegates will be able to debate the issues and explore how rights based approaches in education can help schools address the challenges which they currently encounter. Delegates will be encouraged to identify opportunities for the further dissemination of good human rights education practice within the primary sector on the island of Ireland. The conference will be of particular interest to policy-makers, teachers, teacher educators and those involved in developing or delivering new curricula as well as to teachers' unions, children's organisations and those with an interest in human rights education.
