CROSS-BORDER HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION CONFERENCE
20th October 2006
Belfast, Northern Ireland

This conference is hosted by The Lift Off Initiative together with the
Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Irish Human Rights
Commission. The conference will provide an opportunity to examine the
progress and potential for implementing the United Nations World Programme
of Action for Human Rights Education through showcasing the work of
various initiatives within the primary sector both locally and
internationally.

Through workshops and discussions delegates will be able to debate the
issues and explore how rights based approaches in education can help
schools address the challenges which they currently encounter. Delegates
will be encouraged to identify opportunities for the further dissemination
of good human rights education practice within the primary sector on the
island of Ireland.
