Y-LEAP CAMP 2006
 
ABGREMO-Nigeria a youth based NGO founded by Comrade Edem O.Edem in 1997,
with a mission of working for the promotion of environmental and human
rights protection in and around the coastal communities of Niger-Delta
(Nigeria), through information sharing, education and action programmes,
wishes to announce her maiden youth camp (Y-LEAP Camp 2006).

Theme: YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS CAMP.
The camp will be held in July/August 2006.

Youths are most vulnerable when there is a breakdown in the socio-economic
and political structure of development arising from ignorance and
indiscipline couple with wide level of lack of environmental consciousness
and civic education.  In view of these, there is an urgent need to build
and empower our youths at various level, self discipline and leadership
skills, while living an environmental friendly life.

OBJECTIVES

The youth camp is aim at achieving the following objectives.
1. To empower in/out of school youths towards sustaining democratic 
development.
2. To empower youths on their fundamental human rights and 
responsibilities.
3. To build the youth capacity on environmental protection and management.
4. Promote peace-building among youths.

The youth leadership and environmental awareness training will be
organised as a participatory youth camp, while training will focus on the
following areas.
* Leadership development/skills, youth and adult partnership
* Environmental protection and management, gender and HIV/AIDS 
mainstreaming.
* Conflict management/peace building (non-violence strategies)
* Communication and advocacy, human rights/democracy and community work.

DURATION OF CAMP: 7 days

MODE OF APPLICATION: Application from duly completed 

REGISTRATION: Free (no charges)

TRAVEL: ABGREMO will subsidises participants fare coming within
Niger-Delta region (Nigeria), while others National and International
participants will cover their fare. Other self-sponsored participants are
welcome. 


Application deadline: 15 July 2006. Application forms can be
requested from the organisers.
