1. LOOKING FOR EXEMPLARY CHILDREN'S RIGHTS CURRICULA FOR SCHOOLS (MALAWI)

Dear Colleagues,

Exemplary curricula on children's rights could shae more light as this is
a new concept to us in Africa specifically I refer to Malawians school. Is
it possible that you send some materials to use in school in order to
mainstream this programme in our school in remote areas I work in?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Victor

2. SEEKING RESOURCES FOR DEVELOPING HRE CURRICULA IN PRIMARY EDUCATION IN
NEPAL

Dear friends,

I am now working in a smal town in the eastern part of Nepal which has
been witnessing blatent violations of human rights from the security
forces and maoists. Recently, as you know, the unprecedented mass movement
led to the fall of an autocratic feudal regime and a new era of democracy
has begun.

At this moment, we think that it is very important to make it sure that
children should clearly understand meanings of human rights and democracy
in order to consolidate deep going socio-economic transformation of
Nepalese society as well as democratic process of change. This is more
important in the case of government schools which are subsidized and
heavily dependent on outside support as children from poor socio-economic
basis are enrolled in these schools. As the changes taking place in Nepal
is for inclusive society, it it very important that they belonging to poor
classes and marginalized groups, understand their basic human rights.

This is the thrust of the political trends in Nepal and Shishu Sewa Sadan
(SSS) is also an ardent supporter of this thought. That is one of the main
reasons of their focus on primary education in government schools. In view
of the recent change, SSS wants to develop primary education curricula
reflecting and highlighting on the human rights issues. But we lack
resources and would be highly delighted if some one could assist us in
doing so. They have asked me to communicate with you.

Hope to hear from someone from you.
