Study on impact of HRE in 8th grade history classrooms in California (USA)

Dear Colleagues,

In 2001 I completed research on the impact of HRE on student's knowledge
of citizenship and democracy as part of my Master's thesis. The study was
carried out with 61 students from two 8th grade history classrooms in
California. The study looked at changes in students' perceptions toward
others and towards historical figures and events, through pre- and
post-surveys.

These findings provide support for the positive effects of HRE,
particularly in changing attitudes and developing skills necessary for
participating in a democracy, including the ability to identify human
rights violations and identify core concepts such as democracy and the
rights of citizens.

If you would like to receive a copy of the study, please contact me at the
e-mail address below. I am happy to engage with members on the results of
this study.

All the best,
