Position Announcement TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM ASSISTANT The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) advances human rights principles through assisting the development of a public interest law infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia. PILI was launched by Columbia Law School in 1997 with the support of the Ford Foundation. A headquarters was established in Budapest in 2002. PILI also maintains a small office at Columbia University in New York, an office in Moscow, and works with designated consultants and partner organizations based in a large number of countries. PILI is now seeking a highly educated and motivated professional, with an interest in human rights and social reform, to joint the PILI team as Training and Education Program Assistant. Training and Education Program Assistant will work under the supervision of the Program Director and will assist the program in its activities. In particular, the programme assistant will undertake the following responsibilities and tasks. - Provide administrative assistance to the Program Director and other program staff as appropriate - Assist in organizing and preparing events, meetings, conferences, including logistical arrangements and background materials; - Prepare notes and minutes for the meetings; - Maintain the Program database; - Assist in making travel and accommodation arrangements, flights, hotels, visas, insurance etc. for the program, partners; - Liaise with project and program partners as requested; - Liaise with PILI offices in New York and Moscow; - Assist in planning projects; - Other tasks as assigned. Minimum Requirements: - Minimum 2 years administrative work experience and strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Internet); - Strong communication and time management skills; - Good oral and written English and Hungarian language skills; - Flexibility; - Ability to work independently; - Desire to learn and improve the skills; - Ability to travel Salary PILI offers a competitive salary and benefit package.
