Internship Program on Fundraising issues at Azerbaijan Young Lawyers' Union (AYLU) AYLU is offering Internship opportunity (unpaid) to undergraduates / graduates with an interest in fundraising issues for non-profit organizations starting from March 01, 2005 for 2 months based in Baku, at AYLU Head Office. Background: Azerbaijan Young Lawyers' Union (AYLU) has been founded in February 19, 1999 and officially registered by the Ministry of Justice in March 19, 1999. AYLU is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. AYLU unites about 100 law students, masters and young practicing lawyers around itself. The aim of AYLU is to learn and agitate the human rights and freedoms and legal problems for the contemporary period. The main objectives AYLU are the following: - Study of contemporary information sources and scientific research works on respective spheres of legal sciences; - The monitoring of the realizing the state policy related to human rights and freedoms protection; - To conduct researches in the sphere of the protection of human rights and freedoms. - Study of the foreign states' practices, legislative acts and international conventions in conformity with democratic principles and norms of the present normative legal acts; - Legal awareness raising on legislation concerning the youth's rights and freedoms. Azerbaijan Young Lawyers' Union is a leading agency at Azerbaijan Youth Human Rights Network. In June - September 2004 AYLU hosted 2 interns on Human Rights Issues from Norway and France. The aim of the 2004 Program was to get acquaintance with the situation of the application of the international standards on human rights in Azerbaijan and assist to AYLU on implementation of the human rights related projects in Azerbaijan. Overall Purpose for the 2005 Internship Program: To assist AYLU in fundraising activity for implementation of non-profit human rights related projects. Requirements to Interns: - Interns should have excellent theoretical skills on fundraising issues. - Be under the age 30 - Undergraduate/ graduate - Fluent oral and written English is essential. Azeri or Russian is desirable. Typing ability and word processing skills are highly desirable. Eligible countries: USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Luxemburg, Malta, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, Greece, Turkey, Israel. Key Tasks/ Responsibilities: Assist AYLU on: - Grant Proposal Writing in English language to the foreign donors - Seeking funds from business structures, international agencies and private donors. - Public Relations activity of AYLU - Self financing programs - Conducting workshops once in a week for AYLU staff on fundraising issues - Assistance in Elaboration of the Fundraising Strategy of AYLU - Participation at the meetings/ events on fundraising issues in Baku. - Seeking additional funds for the extension of the Youth Human Rights Network project. - Monthly reporting to the Supervisor etc. Terms and conditions: The internship runs for a period of 2 months (March 01 - April 30, 2005) preferably full-time and is unpaid. Interns are responsible for their own accommodation, daily travel expenses within Baku and other living expenses. AYLU will give information to interested people on accommodation and subsistence in Baku, Azerbaijan upon request.
