To European NGO's for HRE from so-called 'Socrates countries' (countries covered by the European Commission Socrates programme) Hereby I inform you of the intention of VORMEN to submit, as coordinating organisation, to the European Commission under 'Grundtvig 1' a (pre-)proposal of a project to be subsidized. Before submitting the pre-proposal (deadline is 1 November 04) we would like to know if more organisations is interested to be a partner in such a project. Those organisations interested to be a project partner are invited to inform us about their candidature as soon as possible (at latest on 30 September, but please give us a first indication of your eventual interest sooner), mentioning thereby if they see themselves as belonging to the 'core group' or to the 'second circle' (and why). We would appreciate if you would add (maximum 2 pages) why your organisation is interested in it, and -if applicable- which specific expertise or experience your organisation could offer to the project. Don't forget to add the name and coordinates of your organisation and the contact person therein for this project. Of course we also welcome your comments on the outline of the project. Best regards Wim Taelman ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------ 'Using dramatic expression methodologies for human rights education' - draft outline of the project In our mind the main outcomes of the project should be: a) a high quality publication (manual) on using dramatic expression methodologies for human rights education (containing a general chapter, explaining different basic principles and sort of approaches and as substantial part a broad series of 'activities') b) the NGO's actively involved in the projecthaving more expertise and skills in using this type of methodologies, and able to transfer this to teachers and other trainers in their country or region c) a European seminar for all interested people which aims at disseminating the project results, open for a broad series of participants We intend to have 2 types of partners involved in the project: a) partners belonging to the core group would be actively involved in contributing to and writing of the manual (which also means developing of 'activities for it and testing them out) b) partners belonging to the second circle would be expected to 1) attend the seminars which all of them would have a training component, 2) give feedback on 'actiovities' and other materials developed by the core group Though the DARE members (www.dare-network.org) would be preferred as project partner, there is room for other partners as well. A condition for potential partners is that they are based in countries belonging to the Socrates programme. Another condition is that they are practitioning human rights education, preferably training of trainers activities. Some background in dramatic expression would be an extra, openness to include dramatic expression techniques in their own training activities would be considered a minimum. The core group would consist of 4, maximum 5 organisations (for reasons of efficiency), the second circle could contain another 6-8 organisations. The Foundation for Peace and Human Rights Education (Hungary) will belong to the 'core group'. The project would have a duration of three years, and have as its main activities: - two seminars per year (each one having 2/3 seminar days; objectives: training of trainers, presenting and first testing out activities), combined with 1/2 working days for the core group; the last seminar would perhaps be the dissemination seminar - regular e-mail correspondence between the seminars - writing a manual (innovative approach, high quality standards) The working language for the project will be English. Translation of the publication into French, Spanish, German and possibly into other languages of the project partners of the 'core group' would be budgeted for. Tasks for all members of the core group: - developing 'activities' and writing other texts for the manual - organising at least one of the seminars (including attracting an expert from within the own country) - testing out 'activities' in their own country - attending the project seminars (2 persons per partner allowed) - giving critical feedback to all other 'activities' and texts for the manual - searching background material and studying it, reporting about it to ther other partners of the core group Other contributions by project partners of the core group: - setting up and maintaining a project website - making notes for and writing the seminar reports - various organisation and communication tasks - lay-out of the manual - preparing photographs for the manual In principle the specific costs related to the project, made by the partners belonging to the core group, would be paid by the project, if foreseen in the project budget and documented by suitable invoices and as far as they are eligible for the EU Commission. Staff time devoted to the project will be budgeted for, and paid for to the extent that we can find additional funding for the project (maximum 75% of the costs are covered by the EU project grant). Tasks for project partners of the second circle: - attending the project seminars (1 person per partner) - giving critical feedback to all 'activities' and texts for the manual In principle the costs related to attending the project seminars by the partners belonging to the second circle would be covered. They would be expected to contribute about 200 EURO per year to the project. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- Wim Taelman (coordinator) VORMEN vzw (Belgian Flemish Organisation for Human Rights Education) Lange Gasthuisstraat 29 B-2000 Antwerp (Belgium) tel.: + 32 (0)3 293 82 15 fax: + 32 (0)2 611 75 18 wim.taelman@vormen.org www.vormen.org ======== Global Human Rights Education listserv ======== Send mail intended for the list to <hr-education@hrea.org>.
