New LLM in International Human Rights Law at Indiana University School of Law (USA)



New Master in Laws (LL.M.) Program in International Human Rights Law

The Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis now has an LLM track
in International Human Rights Law. Applications are available online for
Fall 2004 enrollment. Some scholarship funds available.


Program Requirements

This LLM track consists of 24 credit hours and may be taken on a full-time
or part-time basis. A Master's thesis is required. All coursework must be
completed within three calendar years. Applicants must hold a J.D. from a
U.S. law school, a law degree from a university outside the U.S., or must
be an international applicant licensed to practice law in a jurisdiction
outside the U.S.

LL.M. Track in International Human Rights Law - Additional Information

Human rights law--in both international and domestic contexts--has broad
scope and deep impact, and this LL.M. specialty prepares lawyers for
practice with a wide range of international and domestic organizations. It
is offered in conjunction with the law school's well-established Program
in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL). The founding Director,
Professor George E. Edwards, will direct this LL.M. track. Students
enrolled in this track may:

* Participate in International Human Rights Law Internships Around the
Globe

* Prepare for Careers with the Department of State or other governmental
bodies of the U.S. or other countries, Multi-National Corporate Firms,
Human Rights Advocacy Groups, the United Nations or other
inter-governmental organizations, or International War Crimes or Other
Special Tribunals

* Take courses offered in a variety of areas, including:
International Human Rights Law
International Humanitarian Law
International Criminal Law
Rights of Non-Citizen/Aliens in the U.S.
Other Related Courses & Seminars
