Human rights education tops OSCE Vienna meeting agenda

WARSAW, 24 March 2004 - Human rights education constitutes a strong
instrument for conflict prevention and preventing human rights violations.
More than 200 human rights experts will focus, amongst other things, on
the long-term effects of human rights education and lessons learned at a
two-day meeting, held by the OSCE's Bulgarian Chairmanship and the OSCE
Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

The Vienna meeting will cover formal human rights education; human rights
education in school curricula; human rights education and training for
public officials; and informal human rights education.

Media representatives are invited to attend all the sessions of the
meeting, which opens on Thursday, 25 March, at 15:00.

A press conference will also be held at the Hofburg, room 201, on Friday,
26 March, at 13:30.

Further information and the agenda of the meeting can be seen at the
special website of the event:
