New Internet portal on Gender Equality and Development

On the occasion of International Women's Day, it is my pleasure to inform
you that the Division for Human Rights and the Struggle against
Discrimination launched a new Internet Portal on Gender Equality and
Development.

You may find the main portal of the Social and Human Sciences at
www.unesco.org/shs and the site on Gender Equality and Development at
www.unesco.org/shs/gender .

The new website features an article on the background of this day, a
thematic presentation of the programme, which aims at promoting gender
equality and the human rights of women, as well as a review of UNESCO's
work on women and gender. It also includes a compilation of the most
important standard-setting instruments concerning the rights of women,
different publications and other information.
