Dear all, Teaching politics - as an element of civic education - is a challenge that requires a special set of knowledge and skills. The NGO D@dalos based in Sarajevo offers a 6-month trainers training for participants from Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Bulgaria and Romanian. The course language is German. Details: >From June 2004 to January 2005, we offer a distance learning course in German language. Main aims are to deal with the topics of democracy, political parties and European Union as well as to get acquainted with tasks, contents and methods of civic education. In addition to that, cross-cutting key qualifications such as presentation skills are taught. Participants acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of civic education and learn how to teach politics in formal and non-formal education. Schedule The course consists of two two-day workshops in Sarajevo, one four-day seminar in Bad Urach/Germany and two ten-week distance learning phases facilitated via e-mail. It is held by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schumann (University of Tuebingen/Germany) and Ragnar Mueller (director of agora-wissen). June 26-27, 2004: 1st workshop in Sarajevo June 28 - September 17, 2004: online-phase I September 18 - 19, 2004: 2nd workshop in Sarajevo September 20, 2004 - January 10, 2005: online-phase II January 11 - 16, 2005: 3rd workshop in Bad Urach/Germany After the course, there will be follow-up mentoring and activities for individuals and for the group. Requirements for Participation - high motivation for being trained as a multiplier - fluency in German (spoken and written) - basic skills in using the Internet and e-mail/Internet connection available - minimum age: 18 years - maximum number of participants: 23 The course is designed for (future) multipliers from schools, universities or NGO in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bulgaria. We expect the participants to be highly motivated and interested in the subject. For the application, the applicant needs to have his/her own ideas or visions how to make use of the knowledge s/he will acquire and how to disseminate it. Therefore, it would be desirable if s/he belongs to an institutions or organisation. A certificate will be given to the participants who have fulfilled all conditions successfully.
