1. LOOKING FOR EXEMPLARY TEXTBOOKS FOR CIVIC AND ETHICAL EDUCATION IN
TRANSITIONAL DEMOCRACIES

Dear Members,

I am working in a project for the preparation of high school textbook (for
grade 11 and 12) on Civic and Ethical Education as one of the required and
formal subjects. I would like to see any such books of any country,
specially countries in transition, and take it as model for my work. I
would be grateful for any kind of suggestion or assistance in this regard.
This is an urgent request cordially demanding a swift response.

Thank you in advance

Sincerely,
Fithe

2. CALL FOR PAPERS - ASIA-PACIFIC JOURNAL ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE LAW 2003

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite contributions for the next 2003 issue of the
Asia-Pacific Journal on Human Rights and the Law. The Journal is in its
third year of publication.

For this next issue, the Journal invites analytical papers, theoretical as
well as empirical, which deal with the extremely diverse the human rights
situations and challenges in the region, as well as other submissions such
as country reports. It accepts texts submitted in major Asian languages.

The Asia-Pacific Journal on Human Rights and the Law is the world's only
law journal offering scholars a forum in which to present comparative,
international and national research dealing specifically with issues of law
and human rights in the Asia-Pacific region.

Please feel free to contact me for further information on the journal or
guidelines on submitting a paper. Information on subscription to the
journal may be obtained through Kluwer Law International's website at

3. SEEKING SCHOLARSHIP FOR MA IN INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Dear Members,

I am glad for the constant communication we have been receiving on this
list serv. I am a Kenyan citizen, interested in human rights and
development. I have a Master of arts degree in communication with a
special emphasis on marginalized groups. Currently I am working in Somalia
with an NGO and I am involved in educating pastoralists.

Beginning August this year, I am supposed to join Brandeis University for
a Master of arts degree in international development. I really want to go
for the program since I have an official admission and would gladly pursue
it. However, my challenge is with finances. I cannot raise the amount of
fees they require of me to pay. Therefore, I am requesting you to sponsor
me for this program. It involves one year of course work, while the other
year will be spent in international work with an organization interested
in developmental work.

Please pass this word around, and anyone or any organization willing to
sponsor me, to please contact me at <beryljus@yahoo.com>. I would also
gladly work for my sponsor for one year, subject to renewal in case I get
a scholarship.

Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

Beryl.
